Gateway Violence Intervention Program Gateway offers a program designed to break the cycle of violence that affects families in their homes and all of us as we go about our daily activities. It is called the Gateway Violence Intervention Program, and it addresses both family violence and anger related problems. For those who are violent at home, it creates a process of change that can lead to non-violence in the home. For those who experience problems in managing their anger, it provides skills and tools designed to help them cope more successfully.

Domestic Violence Program This program for perpetrators of family violence involves 20-weekly training sessions in a group context. Each session is led by two trained professionals, one male and one female. The program is designed to teach participants to stop abusive behavior through:

  • taking responsibility for abusive behavior
  • adopting beliefs and attitudes to support partnership vs. power in relationships
  • developing new ways to communicate and solve problems
  • changing self-defeating thinking habits
  • learning new skills for managing anger and conflict

Domestic violence affects nearly one-half of all American families. And history has shown that without help, violence gets worse. Those who successfully complete the program have a real chance to break the cycle and turn their homes back into safe places for themselves and their families.

Anger Management Program With growing concerns about violence in communities throughout the nation, Gateway has developed a program to help businesses and individuals cope with the issue of anger.

This program is a series of classes that focus on helping individuals recognize, understand, and modify their anger and on teaching skills to successfully manage it. We are also available to employers to present workshops, seminars, and on-site anger management classes, custom-designed to help businesses deal with issues concerning workplace anger and violence.
