Reginald Wilson, known to the kids as Mr. Reggie, has been a valued employee of Gateway for almost 18 years! Reggie began working in Community Connections in 1992 teaching kids in school anger management skills. He has worked in the Shelby County Wrap Around Program and also in Alliance. Reggie currently works in our Therapeutic Foster Care Program (TFC) as a Youth Support Worker. He provides essential mentoring services to boys and youth in TFC. Reggie helps the youth set realistic goals and teaches them how to obtain them. Last year, he realized that many of the youth had a desire to play on a basketball team but due to grades may not be eligible for a school team. He started a basketball team for the youth and served as the coach. This provided them with a great outlet to exercise, learn social skills, and have fun. Reggie has also taken the youth on exciting outings including the BBVA Compass Bowl, Six Flags, and the zoo.
Reggie also served as a TFC foster parent from 1993 to 1995 and is familiar with foster care from all perspectives. He is very active outside of Gateway and has 4 children. Reggie serves on the Midfield City Council, is a Red Cross Volunteer, and started a mentoring program in Midfield.
