Rushton School
Rushton School is a campus-based school serving young people, ages 12 to 18 years, who are experiencing emotional conflict. Located on the campus of Gateway’s Residential Program and licensed by the State of Alabama Department of Education, Rushton School meets the educational and emotional needs of children through a team-oriented treatment approach. Students are assigned therapists who work with the family and the child simultaneously during placement. Therapeutic recreation, counseling, field trips and group work are also included in daily treatment activities.
Rushton School specializes in
- providing individualized special education services involving both the child and the family.
- helping academically challenged teenagers who cannot perform well in a regular school setting.
- providing services to a diverse population of girls and boys who need help with behavioral management skills in order to reach their correct grade levels.
- helping young people return and adjust to a public school setting following placement.
- providing academics from levels K – 12, testing to identify areas requiring focus and professional assistance in re-learning appropriate behaviors for returning to the community.
